The hotel
A stagecoach stop on the river.
The main house was a stagecoach stop in the 1850s, during the Gold Rush. Around 1900 the horticulturist Ira McKenzie lived here and planted trees across the grounds, and several of them still shade the lawns. The inn covers three acres on a bank of the Napa River, just off the Silverado Trail a few miles north of downtown Napa, close enough to reach the town's restaurants in minutes.
There are twelve rooms, spread between the Main House and two smaller buildings. All of them look over the river, many have a gas fireplace and a deck, and a few have a fire pit of their own. There is no restaurant. The day runs on a hot breakfast in the morning and a wine and cheese hour in the evening, hosted by local vintners.
- Breakfast anywhere A hot breakfast is included and brought to you wherever you like on the grounds, your balcony included.
- Magic hour Each evening local winemakers pour their wines with a plate of cheese.
- By the water Spa treatments and massages are given beside the river, and the rooms keep their views over it.
