The hotel

Sixteen years in the making.

Jeffrey Soffer, whose family bought the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach in 2005, started building a Las Vegas sister in 2007 on the site of the old El Rancho. The money ran out in the recession. He walked away in 2009 with the tower about seventy per cent built, and it stood empty for years under Carl Icahn and then Steven Witkoff, who meant to call it The Drew.

Soffer took it back in 2021 with Koch Real Estate Investments and opened it on 13 December 2023. At 67 storeys it is the tallest occupied building in Nevada. Bow ties, the motif of Morris Lapidus, architect of the 1954 Miami original, run through the interiors. The MICHELIN Guide gave it a Key in 2025, and it is the only casino resort in the city to hold one.
