The hotel
Glass and wood on Melville Street.
Kor Hotel Group of Los Angeles opened the Loden on 18 October 2008, in a fourteen-storey tower drawn by the Vancouver architects Hewitt & Kwasnicky. Babey Moulton Jue & Booth, a hospitality design firm from San Francisco, did the interiors. Coal Harbour, on the northern edge of downtown, has since been rebuilt with parks and a marina, and the windows look across Burrard Inlet to the mountains.
The hotel now belongs to The Wentworth Collection, a sister of the Arden Hotel. Inside, the MICHELIN Guide picks out mid-century pieces, a muted palette taken from the region and bathtubs deeper than most. Tableau, the French bistro beside the lobby, has the air of a late-1940s lounge. The guide gave the Loden a Key in 2024 and kept it in 2025 and 2026.
- Burrard Inlet Floor-to-ceiling windows over the water, the marina and the mountains beyond.
- Tableau Bar Bistro French cooking from breakfast to dinner in a sixty-seat room off the lobby, with in-room dining from the same kitchen.
