The hotel
The first St. Regis in the Middle East.
Starwood opened the resort in 2011 as the first St. Regis in the Middle East, on the beach of Saadiyat Island, about fifteen minutes from the city centre. The buildings are Mediterranean in style and palm-lined, and every one of the 376 rooms has a terrace facing the sea, the golf course or the gardens. The Royal Suite fills the top two floors of the west wing, more than 22,500 square feet.
Around the resort lies the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, designed by Gary Player and the first beachfront course in the Gulf. The beach in front runs for about six miles. Hawksbill turtles, an endangered species, nest in its dunes, and bottlenose dolphins swim in the surf. Saadiyat is also the island of Abu Dhabi's museums, the Louvre Abu Dhabi among them.
- Five pools Five pools in all, among them an indoor lap pool, an outdoor lap pool and one for adults, with Sontaya's tables set among them.
- The Athletic Club About 3,500 square metres for training, with personal trainers, daily classes and the indoor lap pool.
- Turtles on the beach Hawksbill turtles nest in the dunes in front of the resort, on a beach of about six miles.
