The hotel
At the old forges of Kuźnice.
Kuźnice means the forges. Around 1700 an ironworks stood here at the foot of the Tatras, run by the Austrian state from 1773, until the ore gave out and pig iron stopped in 1791. The Homolacs family kept the foundries going into the nineteenth century, and in 1870 the estate passed at auction to Count Władysław Zamoyski. Since 2003 the old manor and its park have belonged to the Tatra National Park.
EN Hotel occupies a historic building converted inside that park, where nothing new may be built. The lower station of the Kasprowy Wierch cable car, opened in 1936, is next door at Kuźnice 14, and the hotel sits beside the ski slope on the path up to Myślenickie Turnie. Its restaurant cooks with ingredients grown within a hundred kilometres.
- Arrival by permit You leave the car in Zakopane. A member of staff allowed into the park meets you at a set point and carries the luggage in.
- Kasprowy Wierch The cable car from Kuźnice climbs 4.3 kilometres to an upper station at 1,959 metres in about twelve minutes.
- Small spa A sauna, a steam room and massages after a day of hiking, ski touring or cycling.

Getting there
Flying to Zakopane.
Kraków Airport is the usual arrival for airline and private flights, about two hours by car by our estimate. Poprad-Tatry, across the Slovak border, takes private jets and is roughly an hour and a quarter away by our estimate. Either way the last stretch from Zakopane is with the hotel's permitted driver.
