The hotel
On the river, facing the Ponte Vecchio.
Hotel Lungarno opened in 1967 on Borgo San Jacopo, the street that runs along the south bank of the Arno just west of the Ponte Vecchio. Part of it sits in an old house, part in the thirteenth-century Marsili tower, where rooms keep their bare brick. In 1995 it became the flagship of the Lungarno Collection, the hotel company of the Ferragamo family.
Michele Bönan designed the interiors in blue and white, his first hotel, years before the rest of the collection. On the walls hang more than 450 works of the twentieth century, Picasso and Cocteau among them, set out in five routes through the building. About forty rooms look onto the bridge and the monuments across the water. The restaurant, Borgo San Jacopo, sits right over the river.
- The art collection Over 450 twentieth-century pieces, with Picasso, Cocteau and Bueno in the lounge and the suites named after them.
- Borgo San Jacopo One MICHELIN star, a dining room over the Arno facing the Ponte Vecchio, and a cellar of more than 900 labels.
- Ferragamo in town Guests have free entry to the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo across the river.
