The hotel
The last inn on the Four Beasts Corner.
Travellers have slept at the White Horse for more than six hundred years. It stands on the old Vier-Viecher-Eck, the Four Beasts Corner, named for four inns: the White Horse, the Golden Lion, the Red Eagle and the Golden Stag. Of the four, only the Rössl still serves, in a lane of the pedestrian old town a few steps from the Golden Roof.
Josef Plank bought the house in 1919, and four generations of his family have run it since. His great-grandson Klaus is in charge today. The rooms were redone with old wood and stone, in black, white and grey, and the medieval vaulted cellar below now holds the bar. The guide added the house to its Key selection. It is the only Key hotel inside Innsbruck.
- The Wirtshaus Tyrolean cooking with a seasonal touch, served in centuries-old parlours on the first floor.
- A terrace in the old town The restaurant has the only terrace of its kind in Innsbruck's old town, with the sun on it.
- The vaulted bar The Innsbruck Bar sits in a medieval cellar and stays open from breakfast to late-night drinks.
