The hotel

A hacienda below the volcano.

Villa Bokéh was a seven-room hacienda on the edge of Antigua before Grupo Alta, owner of Casa Palopó on Lake Atitlán, reopened it as a hotel on 10 June 2021. Paliare Studio mixed Guatemalan colonial design with modern detail, and the textile collector Violeta Gutierrez Caxaj chose the weavings. Six acres of gardens hold a lagoon, hidden corners and small plazas, with Volcán de Agua above.

It has since grown to fifteen rooms and joined Relais & Châteaux, the second hotel in Guatemala to do so. Much of the art comes from the owner's own collection, and staff lead tours of the textiles, sculpture and paintings. In 2025 the MICHELIN Guide gave it two Keys, the first in the country, and it kept them in 2026.

  • Six acres Gardens, a lagoon with boats, plazas and a gnome trail for children, a few minutes from the old town.
  • Pool and spa A spa beside the outdoor pool, with hot and cold Jacuzzis, a gym and a billiards room.
  • Art on the walls Textiles, sculpture and paintings, much of it from the owner's collection, with guided tours on request.
