The hotel
A century on the Saigon River.
The Hui Bon Hoa company built the Majestic in 1925, at the corner of Rue Catinat and the Quai de Belgique, now Dong Khoi and Ton Duc Thang. It had four floors and 44 rooms in the French manner. In 1968 the hotel grew two storeys and took the name Hoan My; its initials, HM, gave the hotel the name it carries today.
In 1951 the hotel passed to the Saigon authorities, and from 1975 the state firm Saigontourist ran it, by then with 99 rooms. It reopened in 1995 with 122 rooms, a pool and a spa, and in 2003 an eight-storey wing added 54 more, with the bar that became M Bar. On 29 February 2007 it became the first Vietnamese-run hotel promoted to five stars. In 2025 it marked its hundredth year, still facing Bach Dang Quay and the river.

- Breeze Sky Bar On the fifth floor, facing the river, known for its large buffet.
- Dong Khoi on the doorstep The old Rue Catinat runs from the hotel door up towards the Opera House.
