The city
A capital of avenues and old quarters.
Most journeys to Uzbekistan begin in Tashkent. The old quarter keeps Chorsu Bazaar, known since the Middle Ages, and the Hazrat Imam complex; beside it, the Centre for Islamic Civilization opened on 17 March 2026, with the Qur’an of Uthman in its Qur’an Hall.
Several metro stations are worth the ride: Alisher Navoi, Kosmonavtlar and Mustaqillik Maydoni are finished in marble, ceramic panels and carved detail. Spring and autumn suit a visit best; July averages 36 °C, and most of the rain falls between November and April.
Arriving
Two airports, one for business jets.
Since 17 February 2026, business-aviation charters to the capital have landed at Tashkent-Humo International, the former Tashkent-East airfield, while airline traffic stays at Tashkent International. Tashkent-Humo has no scheduled flights, restricted public access and a four-kilometre runway.
