The hotel

From German club to Goodwood Hall.

The Teutonia Club, founded by Singapore's German community in 1856, started on North Bridge Road, bought land on Scotts Road in 1861 and opened its grand clubhouse here in 1900. R. A. J. Bidwell of Swan and Maclaren drew it with a central tower that still looks like a small castle. During the First World War the British seized it as enemy property.

In 1918 the Manasseh brothers bought the building and named it Goodwood Hall, after the English racecourse. It became the Goodwood Park Hotel in 1929. In the Second World War it served as a Japanese army headquarters. The Tower Wing was made a national monument in 1989, and the hotel now has 233 rooms and two pools. Min Jiang, its Chinese restaurant, is known for Peking duck, and afternoon tea is served every day in the Coffee Lounge.

  • The Tower Wing The 1900 clubhouse and its tower, protected as a national monument since 1989.
  • Afternoon tea Served daily from 3 pm to 5.30 pm in the Coffee Lounge, with more than twenty sweet and savoury items.
  • Two pools The Main Pool and the Mayfair Pool, the second laid out like a Balinese spa.
