The hotel

Gardens between the hills and the lake.

The Serena opened in 2002, built by the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development on Khayaban-e-Suhrwardy, across the road from the Convention Centre and close to the diplomatic enclave. The design follows classical Moorish lines: open-air terraces, pavilions and courtyards, with furniture made by local craftsmen. Fourteen acres of gardens surround the buildings, with the Margalla Hills on one side and Rawal Lake on the other.

Gulf News calls it discreet and secure, a hotel suited to sensitive meetings. In April 2026 the conference rooms held about twenty-one hours of talks between US Vice President JD Vance and Iran's parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The hotel is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. Its largest room, the Presidential Suite, measures about 197 square metres.

  • The gardens Fourteen acres of lawns, courtyards and shaded terraces, which the hotel says have won awards.
  • Maisha Spa The spa and health club, which the hotel calls the only multi-award-winning spa in Pakistan.
  • Six restaurants From Pakistani fine dining at Dawat to barbecue outdoors at Baradari and South-East Asian cooking at Wild Rice.
