The hotel

On the old working harbour.

Ponte 16 takes its name from Pier 16 of the Inner Harbour, the working waterfront on the west side of the peninsula. The Sofitel opened there on 1 August 2008, twenty floors high, with 408 rooms looking across the narrow channel to Zhuhai or back over the city. SJM Holdings and Success Universe Group own the development together, and Accor runs the hotel under its Sofitel name.

Beside the tower stands The Mansion, an addition built for nineteen suites in four design themes, many of them laid out on two levels. The Ponte 16 casino closed on 29 November 2025, when Macau ended its satellite casinos, and the owners have said the site will turn to other business. SJM plans to restore the old San Ma Lou buildings and the piers nearby.

  • The Mansion Nineteen suites in a separate building, most of them duplexes, each with a jacuzzi bath.
  • Two pools Heated outdoor pools on a planted terrace above the harbour, with a pool bar.
  • The old town San Ma Lou and the lanes of the World Heritage old town are a short walk away.
