The hotel
A hotel without a casino.
Mandarin Oriental opened here on 29 June 2010, as part of One Central, a waterfront development by Shun Tak Holdings on Avenida Dr. Sun Yat Sen. The hotel fills a glass tower with 186 rooms and 27 suites. Its windows run from floor to ceiling, facing Nam Van Lake on one side and the bay on the other, and the ferry from Hong Kong docks seven minutes away.
In a city built around gaming, the hotel has no casino. A direct link takes guests into the One Central shops, and the casinos of the peninsula are a short drive away. Inside, the colours are neutral with touches of gold, and the decoration mixes modern art with Asian pieces. Vida Rica, the main restaurant, cooks Asian food with Portuguese and Western notes.
