The hotel
Glass and the chokha on Freedom Square.
Freedom Square is the hinge of central Tbilisi, where Rustaveli Avenue begins and the lanes of the old town run down towards the river. The Opera House has stood nearby since 1851. In November 2023 Paragraph opened on the square as the first Luxury Collection hotel in Georgia, in a new building by Hausart Georgia with a double-curved glass front that reflects the square.
Inside, HAT Design Paris worked from the chokha, the long Georgian folk coat with its bandoliers and triangular cut, and turned its patterns into leather, velvet and geometric ornament. Every room has a refrigerator stocked with Georgian wine and a freestanding bath. The top three floors hold the spa, and above them a terrace looks over the old town.
