The hotel
Clean lines above the old city.
Sahrai stands on the hill between the medina of Fes and the newer town. Its owners also run Riad Fès inside the old city. At Sahrai the French designer Christophe Pillet worked Moorish arches, carved plaster and zellige into a plain, modern frame, with glass-walled marble bathrooms and wide windows. The hotel belongs to Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and the same owners run Villa Sahrai in Casablanca.
The hotel is laid out to look down at the medina. The infinity pool points towards it, as do the colonnades of Arcades and the rooftop bar, Salon Lyautey, which keeps a fire going on cool evenings. Fes el Bali is a short drive away, and the Middle Atlas and the golf course at Royal Golf de Fès are both within reach for a day.
- The infinity pool A long pool on the hillside, aimed at the medina, with a separate pool for children.
- Givenchy Spa Stone walls, mashrabiya screens, a hammam, sauna and Jacuzzi, and a treatment area outdoors.
- Tennis A court on the grounds, with a gym and fitness classes as well.
