The hotel

A Hilton for the capital.

The Hilton opened in 1989 in the government and business district of Yaoundé, a short way from the Palais des Congrès. The state company Cameroon Hotels Corporation owns it: a ten-storey building of about 30,000 square metres, with a shopping complex of 8,000 square metres attached. La Cascade, Le Safoutier and Le Panoramique on the roof are among its restaurants and bars, and nineteen meeting rooms surround Bouma Hall.

A first refurbishment came in 2000. In 2025 the owners began planning a complete renovation to bring it up to current five-star standards, and in April 2026 they chose a group of banks to raise around twenty-five billion CFA francs. No date for the works has been announced, and the hotel is trading as usual. Rooms come as king, twin and executive, each with a furnished balcony.

  • Le Panoramique The rooftop bar, with a view across the city and a pool table.
  • By the pool An outdoor pool, with grills in the evening at O Vive beside it.
  • Bouma Hall The main hall among nineteen meeting rooms, with about 1,050 square metres of event space in all.
