The hotel

A business hotel on the bay.

The Regency has stood at the north end of Douglas promenade for more than thirty-five years, with a following among business travellers to the island as well as holidaymakers. The tourism board graded it four stars with a Gold award in 2021, and gave it the 4-Star Gold Award again in May 2026, a level the hotel shares with only one other on the island.

In July 2020 L'Experience, a French restaurant long known elsewhere on the promenade, moved into the hotel. It was renamed La Table early in 2026, keeping its chefs, most of its team and the French onion soup. Upstairs, the sea-facing rooms have been refurbished, and the Presidential Suite is hung with Manx art. The horse trams run along the front in summer.

  • La Table French cooking on the ground floor, with the same kitchen team that ran L'Experience: onion soup to start, Chateaubriand for two to follow.
  • The bay Sea-facing rooms look straight across Douglas Bay from the northern end of the promenade.
  • For business A courtesy car runs to the town centre and the financial district on weekday mornings, and there is a boardroom for meetings.
