The city
A boulevard in the desert.
Las Vegas Boulevard carries the city's great resorts south from Downtown, one after another, with casinos, theatres, spas and pool decks under the same roofs. Behind the lights is the Mojave Desert, with canyons of red sandstone and the mountains rising on every side of the valley.
Spring and autumn are the seasons. From February to May and in October and November the days run from 18 to 31 °C under dry skies. Summer is fierce, with highs near 41 °C in July, and winter afternoons are cool at around 14 °C.

Runways at the end of the Strip.
Harry Reid International lies south of the city, about five miles from the Strip, with four long runways. Clark County also runs Henderson Executive, eleven miles south of the city, as its airport for corporate flights.

When to go
February to May, and October to November.
A hot desert with almost no rain, so the temperature sets the season. February to May and October to November are the best months, at 18–31 °C. From June to September highs reach 35–41 °C, and in December and January the afternoons stay near 14 °C.
