The hotel
A family farm in Yountville.
John and Lucy Bardessono came from Italy and settled here in 1926. With John's brother-in-law Martin Zucco they bought twenty acres and farmed them: grapes, prunes and walnuts, a vegetable garden and animals. Most of the land was sold in 1989 for houses. The last five acres became the hotel, which opened in 2009 and still carries the family name, with the old farm remembered in its garden.
The walls look like sandstone but are rammed earth, with reclaimed wood inside and out. Much of the building was planned around water and energy, and it earned LEED Platinum, a rating very few hotels hold. Lucy, the restaurant, is named after the woman who farmed these grounds in the 1920s, and a garden on the property still supplies its kitchen.
- Spa in the suite Bathrooms of some 19 square metres with soaking tubs, and treatments given in your own room as well as in the spa.
- On the roof A pool and hot tub on the roof, heated and open all year, with cabanas.
- Bicycles Every suite comes with bikes, and the restaurants of Washington Street are a short ride away.

Getting there
Flying to Napa.
San Francisco International is about an hour and a half by car, and Oakland and Sacramento about an hour each. Private jets can land at Napa County Airport, about 20 minutes south by our estimate; there is no customs there, so flights from abroad clear first at an airport of entry such as San Francisco or Oakland.
