The hotel
A glass sail on the square.
Work on the tower began in 2007 and stopped for a while during the political tensions that followed the June 2008 election. It was finished in 2010 and opened the next year. The designers took the shape of a ship's sail, then wrapped all twenty-five storeys in blue glass tested against winds of thirty-five metres a second. For some years it was the tallest building in Mongolia.
The tower mixes uses. Offices fill floors four to eleven, the hotel takes floors twelve to eighteen, and private residences sit above. The Sky Lounge crowns it on the twenty-third and twenty-fourth floors. Outside the door is Peace Avenue, and directly across it Sükhbaatar Square, the main square of the capital. When the hotel opened, Preferred Hotels & Resorts signed it as its first member in Mongolia.
- Sky Lounge Two floors at the top of the tower, seating 124, with the city spread out below the windows.
- Bliss Fitness Center An indoor pool, a sauna, a jacuzzi and a gym on the third floor.
- On the square Sükhbaatar Square is directly opposite, with the business district and government offices around it.
