The hotel
A nobleman's house at the forest edge.
The estate dates from 1924, when it was built as the residence of a nobleman in the woods outside Lanaken, on the Belgian side of the Maas. Today it sits on the edge of the Hoge Kempen National Park, a few minutes from the Dutch border. The hotel calls its hospitality five-star superior, and it belongs to Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Ten meeting rooms and a large park also make it a place for weddings and private events.
Three houses share the grounds. Le Manoir, the original villa, holds the restaurants and the more theatrical rooms, among them a suite designed with Missoni and another under a ceiling of artificial stars. La Villa is newer and faces a small lake. La Forêt, the latest addition, has floor-to-ceiling glass looking straight into the trees. All three are decorated in neutral colours and natural materials.
- The Shiseido Institute Described by the hotel as the fifth in the world, with an indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath and jacuzzi. Use of the spa is included in the stay.
- Mornings Yoga and outdoor meditation classes every morning, and a reformer pilates studio, L'ESPACE, for those who want more.
- Into the park Cycling and walking trails run from the estate into the heath and pinewoods of the Hoge Kempen.
