The hotel
A golf hotel by Michael Graves.
Michael Graves designed the Steigenberger Golf Resort, which opened in 1999 beside the El Gouna Golf Club. The course around it has eighteen holes laid out by Gene Bates and the American player Fred Couples, played between lagoons with the Red Sea Mountains in view. A golf school and a Golf Tower with a view all round complete the set. Green fees are paid on top of the room.
A ten-month renovation led by the designers GG&Grace International ended when the resort reopened in February 2023 in a contemporary Nubian style, with arched windows, domes and gardens set among blue lagoons. There are 196 rooms and 72 suites, each with a terrace or a balcony, and a private beach on the lagoon. Harumaki, the new Japanese restaurant, opened with the renovation.
- On the course Eighteen championship holes by Gene Bates and Fred Couples start at the door, with a golf school for lessons. Green fees are paid apart from the room.
- Lagoon beach A private beach on the hotel's own stretch of lagoon, with loungers, umbrellas and windbreaks.
- Harumaki Japanese teppanyaki, cooked at a live grill in front of you.
