The hotel
Thirty years on the peninsula.
The Mövenpick opened in January 1996, and has now passed thirty years on the Red Sea. It takes up a peninsula with the Red Sea on the outside and lagoons on the inside, so that most of its 420 rooms look over water of one kind or the other. The beach runs for about a kilometre and a half, and the hotel counts five restaurants, from seafood on the shore to an Egyptian dining room.
The resort keeps a kite station on its own sand, and kitesurfing and diving lead the list of things to do. Three pool areas, two of them with swim-up bars, a spa with a Turkish bath and a club for small children make it a family address. Every afternoon the resort sets out Chocolate Hour, a tasting of chocolate for guests.
- Kite station Kitesurfing straight from the hotel beach, and diving on the Red Sea.
- Raa Spa Six treatment rooms, a Turkish bath, sauna, steam bath and jacuzzi.
- Chocolate Hour A daily afternoon hour given over to chocolate, a Mövenpick habit.
