The hotel

Indochine on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai.

AccorHotels opened the hotel in 2015 in its French-themed MGallery collection, and chose French Indochina in the 1930s as the theme. From the street the tower looks modern, with a touch of Art Deco; inside, the MICHELIN Guide found a careful period reconstruction, with custom-painted furniture in the 168 rooms. It stands on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai in District 3, a few streets from the old centre of District 1.

The name comes from the owner's collection. Paintings and antiques hang along the corridors and in the public rooms, so the hotel works partly as a gallery. Upstairs the mood changes. The Albion, run by Kirk Westaway, cooks modern British food on the 23rd floor, and the Social Club bar sits on the 24th. An infinity pool looks out over the skyline.

  • The Albion by Kirk Westaway Contemporary British cooking on the 23rd floor, listed in the MICHELIN Guide.
  • Social Club Rooftop Bar On the 24th floor, with the city spread out below.
  • Café des Beaux-Arts Afternoon tea downstairs, with live piano.
