The hotel

Three generations in Mitteltal.

Hermine Bareiss lost her husband in the last week of the Second World War. In 1947 she took over the Gasthaus Kranz in Mitteltal, and on 1 May 1951 she opened the Kurhotel Mitteltal with 25 beds. Her motto was that there is no "no" for the guest. Her son Hermann took charge in 1973, and the hotel is still owned and run by the family.

Pools came early: an indoor pool and sauna in 1969, seawater in 1978, a garden pool in 2005. The name changed to Hotel Bareiss in 1992, the Country House followed in 2000, and Restaurant Bareiss won its third MICHELIN star in November 2007. The family also restored a farmhouse of 1789, the Morlokhof, and a trout farm at Buhlbach.

  • Seawater all year An indoor and an outdoor seawater pool, both kept at 34°C, plus a freshwater pool in summer and a natural bathing pond.
  • A family hotel A children's programme every day in separate groups for small children, older ones and teenagers.
  • Out in the valley The Morlokhof, a farmhouse of 1789 restored by the family, and the Forellenhof Buhlbach, a trout farm with its own restaurant.
