The hotel

Mughal gardens on the edge of Delhi.

Trident, Gurgaon was drawn by Lek Bunnag, a Thai architect, with SDB Consultants working on the ground. He kept it low and spread it across about seven acres, mixing Mughal, Rajasthani and Moroccan ideas. Walkways, courtyards and fountains lead from one wing to the next, and a pool of water sits at the centre, in view of many of the rooms.

The hotel belongs to the Oberoi group, and The Oberoi, Gurgaon stands next door at the same address in Udyog Vihar. In 2017 India's tourism ministry named it Best Hotel in the 5-Star category at the National Tourism Awards. The hotel says all its electricity now comes from solar power. Rooms look out on either the gardens or the outdoor pool, which is heated through the winter months.

  • The gardens Almost 30,000 square metres of lawns, courtyards and reflection pools, with rooms facing either the garden or the pool.
  • Outdoor pool For hotel guests only, open from sunrise to sunset and heated in winter.
  • Trident Spa Ayurvedic and Western treatments in private suites, kept for resident guests, with a gym open around the clock.
