The hotel

Hotel Georgia, since 1927.

Hotel Georgia opened on 7 May 1927, twelve storeys designed by Robert T. Garrow and John Graham Sr. A room was set aside for Edward, Prince of Wales, and Fred Herrick shined shoes in the lobby for 54 years. The hotel closed in 2007 for a long restoration and reopened under Rosewood on 10 July 2011, with its 320 rooms combined into fewer, larger ones.

A second renovation closed it for five months in 2024. Lillian Wu Studio of New York redid the rooms in a residential style, and Ste. Marie Studio of Vancouver gave the lobby a 1920s look. The Georgia Bar was added, and the 1927 Lounge, named for the opening year, now has a Fazioli piano and live music on some nights.

  • Reflections The garden terrace, now under a retractable roof so it can serve through the winter.
  • Sense spa and pool Sense, A Rosewood Spa, with an indoor saltwater pool and a fitness centre.
  • Downtown on foot The Vancouver Art Gallery is across the street, and the hotel stands at the centre of downtown on West Georgia Street.
