The hotel
A resort inside a winery.
Four Seasons opened its first wine-country resort in November 2021 on the edge of Calistoga, at the northern end of the Napa Valley. The 22.5-acre estate is a working winery: Elusa makes Calistoga wines from a 4.7-acre organic cabernet vineyard that runs between the guest buildings, and guests can taste them on site. Rooms, suites and the three-bedroom Estate Villa sit in low buildings around the vines, with two pools and a spa.
John C. Hill of HKS drew the first concept, and Hirsch Bedner Associates did the interiors: low buildings set among oaks and vines, modernist lines with a Northern California farmhouse feel. Twenty private residences share the grounds, eleven of them available to rent. Auro, the tasting-menu restaurant, holds one MICHELIN star, and the resort has kept a Forbes Five-Star rating for four years running.
- Elusa Winery Tastings of the estate's own Calistoga wines, grown on the estate.
- Spa Talisa Eight treatment rooms over some 6,000 square feet indoors, with a little more than that outdoors and a Calistoga mud treatment of its own.
- Two pools One for adults only, one for families, with resort bicycles for the Silverado Trail.
