The hotel
French art on the Corniche.
Sofitel opened its first Abu Dhabi hotel in March 2012, in the hotel tower of Capital Plaza, a group of five towers at the eastern tip of the Corniche finished the year before. The brand dressed it in French contemporary art: a Pierre Soulages painting in the lobby, lithographs by Jean Cocteau, furniture that nods to Daniel Buren and sculpture after Brancusi.
Today there are 280 rooms and suites, most of them looking out over the Gulf or the city. The top two floors belong to the Club Millésime, with its own lounge. Abu Dhabi Mall is two kilometres away and the hotel is set up for people working in town, with twelve meeting rooms and a ballroom. Silk & Spice, the Thai restaurant, has been here since the opening.
- Grills at Chill'O A Mediterranean grill and lounge across two decks on the eighth floor, looking over the sea and the city, with cocktails by the pool.
- Sofitel Spa Local products and French cosmetics, with separate hammams and jacuzzis for women and for men.
- Club Millésime A lounge on the top floors for guests in the Club rooms and suites.
