The hotel
Dunes, turtles and the Gulf.
Jumeirah opened its Saadiyat resort in December 2018 and called it the group's first eco-conscious hotel. It stands on 400 metres of the island's white beach, behind protected dunes where hawksbill turtles come to nest. Dolphins and dugongs live in the waters off the Saadiyat mangroves, and flamingos and herons visit inland. The hotel hands out refillable bottles and dropped plastic straws, and guests join beach clean-ups.
The centre of Abu Dhabi is about ten minutes by car, and the Louvre Abu Dhabi is on the same island. Inside, the rooms are white, grey and blue, and old black-and-white photographs of the city hang on the walls. The hotel now calls itself Jumeirah Saadiyat Island, and the MICHELIN Guide lists it with one Key. The Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is next door.
- Three pools A family pool, a lagoon pool with a bar and a pool for adults only, joined to the beach by a boardwalk.
- Talise Spa Some 2,700 square metres with fifteen treatment rooms, a Moroccan hammam, saunas and salt rooms.
- On the water Paddleboards and kayaks, with a fair chance of dolphins, and the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club next door.
