The hotel
A seminary in the fashion district.
The archbishop's seminary of Milan dates from 1565 and the time of Carlo Borromeo. Its baroque portal on Corso Venezia was added by Francesco Maria Richini in 1652. Inside lies a square cloister with a double loggia of paired columns. The diocese still owns the complex, which had been closed to the public for about twenty years before the Ferragamo family's Lungarno Collection took it on.
Michele De Lucchi led the restoration, and Michele Bönan designed the rooms, mixing baroque remains with mid-century pieces and Carrara marble bathrooms. Portrait Milano opened on 15 December 2022. The cloister became Piazza del Quadrilatero, a public square of about 2,800 square metres between Corso Venezia and Via Sant'Andrea, lined with restaurants and shops. The 73 rooms and suites sit on the floors above it, from the first floor up.
- The Piazza The old cloister, now an open square of about 2,800 square metres under seventeenth-century colonnades, linking Corso Venezia with Via Sant'Andrea.
- A pool under the vaults The indoor pool lies beneath the vaults of the former cellar, part of the Longevity Spa.
- Breakfast Food & Wine Italia named it the best hotel breakfast in 2025.
