The hotel
Generali's palace on Cordusio.
Assicurazioni Generali built Palazzo Venezia on Piazza Cordusio between 1897 and 1901, to a design by Luca Beltrami, and kept its Milan headquarters there for more than a century. Generali Real Estate and Meliá then turned it into a hotel, which opened at the end of 2023 as the first Gran Meliá in Milan, with 84 rooms and suites behind the old facades.
Studio Marco Piva restored the facades, the protected interiors and the courtyard. The Spanish studio Asah did the rooms and public spaces, with Rubelli fabrics, Venetian floors and furniture by Molteni, Cassina and Fornasetti, a nod to the insurer's roots in Venice. Guests check in at the top of the building, under the dome, and some rooms have balconies over the square.
- Two terraces on the Duomo Isola and SACHI both have terraces facing the cathedral, Isola over Piazza Mercanti and the Palazzo della Ragione.
- Giardino Cordusio An Italian bistro and cocktail bar in the inner courtyard, with a botanical theme.
- Wellness An indoor pool, a sauna, a Turkish bath and a relaxation lounge, with a Technogym gym next door.
