The hotel
A perfume house that became a hotel.
Vincenzo Martone started out in Milan in the 1940s, and his son Roberto founded the cosmetics and fragrance company ICR in 1975. When production moved to Lodi in the 1980s, the family kept its old Milan premises on Via Forcella, in Tortona. In 2013 they reopened them as a hotel of 68 suites and called it the first Hotel à Parfum.
Ambra Martone runs it as creative director, with her sister Giorgia. Every suite takes its name from a scented shrub or tree and has its own fragrance, and guests pick one at the olfactory check-in. A liquidambar tree stands in the inner garden and gives the lounge bar its name. Mudec and the Navigli canals are both a short walk away.
- LabSolue The hotel's perfume laboratory, where a "LabTender" helps guests choose a scent or build a fragrance of their own.
- The inner garden Breakfast is served here, around the liquidambar tree, and many suites look onto it.
- A spa for two A small spa for aromatherapy and Ayurvedic massage, for hotel guests only and two people at a time. Book well ahead.
