The hotel
Aldo Rossi on the piazza.
The hotel stands where the Hotel Duca di Milano used to be, on Piazza della Repubblica, in a building the late Aldo Rossi designed. Meliá Hotels International opened it under its ME brand in May 2015, after a renovation of the old hotel. The Quadrilatero della Moda is about a kilometre and a half away, and Brera lies just to the south.
The interiors look back to Milanese design, with furniture by Gio Ponti and Luca Meda, who worked with Rossi, and floor lamps by Achille Castiglioni. Photographs by Alberto Van Stokkum hang through the building. At opening there were 132 rooms, among them 32 Chic Suites, and STK Milan arrived as the first branch of the steakhouse in Italy. Radio Rooftop Bar took the tenth floor.
- Radio Rooftop Bar On the tenth floor, reached by an express lift, with tapas, cocktails and a view of the skyline over Porta Garibaldi.
- STK Milan The steakhouse on the ground floor, the first of its kind in Italy when the hotel opened.
- Terraces on the piazza The Personality Suite and Suite ME, on the first floor, each have a terrace of 100 square metres over Piazza della Repubblica.
