The hotel
Geneva's first post-war grand hotel.
The Hôtel du Rhône opened in 1950, the first luxury hotel built in Geneva after the Second World War, and every room had its own bathroom, still a rarity then. Its early modernist façade on the Quai Turrettini is now protected as part of the city's heritage. The Lendi Group sold it in 1989, and Mandarin Oriental bought it in 2000.
Since then the inside has been redone in stages. Adam Tihany took on the public rooms in 2008, and in 2013 the bedrooms were rebuilt with larger suites. In 2019 the Royal Penthouse arrived on top, 325 square metres with a terrace of 175 square metres over the river and the Old Town. Ottolenghi opened downstairs in January 2025.
- Ottolenghi Geneva Yotam Ottolenghi's first restaurant outside the United Kingdom, built around a live-fire grill and modelled on ROVI in London.
- SACHI Modern Japanese cooking under chef Mitsu, who trained with Nobu Matsuhisa, with a ten-seat omakase counter and a garden terrace on the river.
- Royal Penthouse The top of the hotel, with a terrace of 175 square metres looking over the Rhône, the Old Town and the mountains.
