The hotel
A safari lodge on Lake Geneva.
La Réserve belongs to Michel Reybier, who also owns Cos d'Estournel in Bordeaux. He asked the Paris decorator Jacques Garcia to do the rooms, the spa and the restaurants, and Garcia mixed an African lodge with a Japanese tea house: dark wood, celadon and orange, and old expedition photographs of India and Africa on the walls.
The hotel stands at Bellevue, five kilometres up the right bank from the city, in a park of ten acres that runs down to its own jetty. In summer a motoscafo leaves the pontoon for the centre. Le Loti takes its name from Pierre Loti, the travel writer, and Tsé Fung was the first Chinese restaurant in Switzerland to earn a MICHELIN star.
