The hotel
The house with the golden stork.
The Cigogne first took guests in 1901, in a town palace on Place Longemalle, a few steps from the Jardin Anglais and the lake, at the foot of the Old Town. A golden stork, the cigogne of the name, hangs on the façade. The same family has run the house for three generations. It joined Relais & Châteaux in 1989 and the Grandes Tables de Suisse in 2004.
A renovation in 2013 brought back the Belle Époque mood. The public rooms keep their period woodwork, murals and a grand fireplace, and many bedrooms have a fireplace of their own. No two rooms are alike, and they range from classic doubles to duplex suites and a family suite for four. In the dining room the walls are panelled in mahogany. Today the hotel belongs to the Longemalle Collection with its neighbour, Hôtel Longemalle, on the same square.
- Fireplaces in the rooms Even the classic rooms, from 25 to 35 square metres, come with a fireplace.
- Duplex suites Several suites are laid out over two levels, from 60 to 65 square metres.
- A restaurant all afternoon Restaurant de la Cigogne serves from noon to 10 pm without a break, with a terrace in fine weather.
