The hotel
The left bank since 1854.
The Métropole has stood on the left bank since 1854, between the Rhône and the Jardin Anglais, with the Pont du Mont-Blanc and the Jet d'Eau in front. The Old Town rises behind it and Rue du Rhône, the main shopping street, runs right behind. The City of Geneva owns the building and in 2022 leased it to its own hotel company for thirty years.
A long renovation is ending. The rooms and the meeting rooms have been redone, and new restaurants are being fitted out for this autumn. About half the rooms face the lake. At the top sits the MET Rooftop & Lounge, with the bay, the cathedral and the gardens all in view, and a winter version from November. The hotel also runs the Parc des Eaux-Vives, among old sequoias less than a kilometre away.
- MET Rooftop & Lounge Cocktails, tapas and gins from Switzerland and beyond, with the Jet d'Eau, the lake and St Pierre Cathedral in view.
- Suite Calvin A through-suite of 165 square metres with high ceilings, looking over the Pont du Mont-Blanc and the Jardin Anglais.
- Parc des Eaux-Vives The hotel's second house, a restaurant and hotel among century-old sequoias less than a kilometre away.
