The hotel

A lake house of 1872.

The architect Anthony Krafft designed the hotel, which opened in 1872 with thirty large rooms, most of them facing the lake and Mont Blanc. A new wing followed in 1910, when the main entrance moved round to rue de Monthoux. In 1995 the hotel closed for a year and was rebuilt inside, keeping only the listed façade, the staircase and the floors.

Red Carnation Hotel Collection, a family-run group, took it over in October 2001 and still runs it, with the motto that no request is too large and no detail too small. The rooms have lately moved away from Louis XV and English manor towards a lighter, modern look, with a leopard print kept for old times' sake. The name lives on at the Leopard Bar, where a band plays every night, often into the early hours.

  • The Leopard Bar Cocktails and single malts, with live music every night. It is also the hotel's largest room for events.
  • On the water A tea-time cruise on the lake, or an early start out on the water with a local fisherman.
  • A pet concierge Dogs are welcome, with a basket and bowls in the room and walks along the lakefront.
