The hotel

A lodge named after the sun.

The lodge takes its name from Arinna, the sun goddess of the Hittites, and each of its eleven suites is named after another deity of ancient Anatolia or Mesopotamia. It stands in the Uçhisar Valley, below the village's rock citadel. Some rooms are carved straight into the soft volcanic stone, as Cappadocian houses have been for centuries; others are built above ground in golden local stone.

Inside, vaulted ceilings, old mosaics and contemporary furniture share the space, and a wood-burning stove warms the lobby. The gardens fall away down the hillside to the lodge's vineyard, where wine tastings are held, and kitchen gardens supply the restaurant. A full breakfast is included in every stay. Ariana belongs to Small Luxury Hotels of the World and to Virtuoso, and holds one MICHELIN Key.

Flying to Cappadocia.

Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport is 39 kilometres away, about forty minutes by car by our estimate, and receives both airline and private flights. Kayseri Erkilet, with more flights from Istanbul, is 75 kilometres away, roughly an hour and a quarter by our estimate.

Business & First Class Airline flights Turkish Airlines, AnadoluJet and Pegasus fly to Nevşehir from Istanbul in about 80 minutes, mostly from Sabiha Gökçen. Kayseri has ten or more Istanbul flights a day and some international service, so a connection through Istanbul is the usual way in from Europe or the Gulf.
