The hotel

A modern mansion above Songshan.

Capella Taipei opened on 1 April 2025, the eighth hotel of the Singapore group. It takes the upper floors of a tower on tree-lined Dunhua North Road, built with the Tokyo developer Mori Building Group, and century-old trees stand at the entrance. André Fu called it a modern mansion. In place of a lobby there are salons, and the rooms look out over Taipei towards the hills.

It held one MICHELIN Key before the guide raised it to two in 2026, which made it the first and only two-Key hotel in Taiwan. Days here follow a routine of their own: soy milk under a banyan tree in the morning, tea in the evening, and walks or tastings led by the hotel's Culturists in between. Five restaurants share the building, from Cantonese to omakase.

  • Pool terraces Six of the rooms and suites have a terrace with a lap pool and a jacuzzi facing the skyline. The main pool terrace is on the 14th floor.
  • Mizue A Japanese omakase counter on the second floor, modelled on a ryokan, with two MICHELIN stars.
  • The Culturists Hotel staff who lead daily walks through the neighbourhood and tastings of local food.
