The hotel

A Palace on the Baie des Flamands.

The Isle de France sits on the beach at Flamands, a short drive from Gustavia. It joined LVMH's Cheval Blanc collection in 2014 as the brand's third Maison and became the first hotel outside mainland France to hold the Palace distinction. The Paris decorator Jacques Grange designed the interiors. Today there are 61 rooms, suites and villas, some on the beach and some in the gardens.

In 2019 the hotel closed for several months and took over the former Hotel Taïwana next door. It reopened on 26 November 2019 with twenty more rooms and suites by Grange and the Villa de France, a five-bedroom house of about 650 square metres over two floors, with its own spa and two infinity pools. Jean Imbert took over the kitchen at La Case that season.

  • On the sand Some rooms look straight over the Baie des Flamands, others sit among the gardens, and the beach is a few steps from either.
  • Guerlain spa The only Guerlain spa in the Caribbean, with a signature treatment for skin after a day in the sun.
  • Out to sea Full-day trips on a 69-foot yacht, with a lobster lunch served on a beach.

Rooms & suites

Ocean rooms, garden rooms and a house of its own.

Jacques Grange designed the rooms in both the original house and the former Taïwana. Some face the beach, others the gardens.

  • Beach side Ocean Rooms and Ocean Suites In the newer wing on the bay, as well as in the original house. Two-bedroom Ocean Suites suit families.
  • Five bedrooms Villa de France About 650 square metres over two floors, with a dining room for ten, a kitchen, a private spa, two infinity pools and its own way onto the beach.

Getting there

Flying to Gustavia.

Long-haul flights end on St Maarten, and a small plane covers the last stretch to Saint-Jean in about a quarter of an hour. From the airstrip to Flamands is around ten minutes by car, our estimate. Private jets land at Princess Juliana on St Maarten, where a chartered propeller aircraft or a helicopter can wait for the hop across.

Questions

What guests ask first.

How many MICHELIN Keys does Cheval Blanc St-Barth have?
Three, in the 2026 MICHELIN Key selection. It is the only hotel on the island with three Keys.
Can a private jet fly straight to St Barth?
No. The runway at Saint-Jean is about 650 metres long and takes small propeller aircraft only. Jets land on St Maarten, and the last leg is a short flight or a helicopter ride.
Who cooks at La Case?
Jean Imbert, the French chef who won Top Chef France in 2012. His menu pairs French cooking with Caribbean seafood, herbs and fruit.
Can SkyCourtage arrange the flight to Gustavia?
Yes. We arrange Business and First Class seats on scheduled airlines and private jet charter to Gustavia, with one final price, our margin included. The hotel is booked with the hotel or through our booking partner.
