The hotel
Below the Güemes monument.
Starwood opened the Sheraton Salta in October 2005, its eighth hotel in Argentina, on new ground in the Monumento district. The neighbourhood takes its name from the statue of General Güemes at the foot of Cerro San Bernardo, and the hotel looks out over the city towards the Lerma Valley and the Andes. It opened with 145 rooms, ten of them suites, and a gourmet restaurant serving the cooking of the north.
The Chilean group Phoenix bought it in 2017 and planned a full renovation. It is now part of Marriott Bonvoy. The centre of town and Plaza 9 de Julio are about ten blocks away on foot, and Martín Miguel de Güemes airport about thirteen kilometres by road. Terracota and the two bars look out over the city, and the pool deck faces the mountains.
- Pool with a view A heated outdoor pool with a sun deck and a jacuzzi facing the mountains.
- Sheraton Spa Massages, a sauna and a 24-hour gym.
- Terracota The hotel's restaurant for dinner and wine, looking out over the city.
