The hotel
A showroom with a club inside.
The Moore went up in the early 1920s, during the Florida land boom, as the showroom of the Moore and Sons furniture company, on land that had been a pineapple farm. Its neoclassical front is one of the best known in the city. In 2005 Zaha Hadid filled the atrium with Elastika, a sculptural piece made for the first Design Miami, and it still runs up through the building.
In 2024 WoodHouse turned the building into a private club with a hotel on the fourth floor, the first hotel in the Design District. Studio Collective of Los Angeles designed the suites to fit the old footprint, each one different, in plaster, curved wood, clay and rattan. Staying here gives you the run of The Club without a membership. The MICHELIN Guide gave it one Key.
- The Club Hotel guests use the members' floors: dining rooms, a library, a karaoke room and a late-night speakeasy called The Rabbit Hole.
- Elastika Zaha Hadid's installation hangs in the four-storey atrium, the centre of the building since 2005.
- Art on the walls The Club's collection includes work by Derek Fordjour, Cindy Sherman, Carrie Mae Weems and Gabriel Orozco.
