The hotel
A yacht club that never was.
The Eden au Lac went up on the Utoquai in 1909, a French Empire-style building facing the water on the eastern shore of the lake. Michel Reybier brought it into his La Réserve group and closed it for two years of work. It reopened on 8 January 2020, with forty rooms and suites, most of them looking over the lake, and La Muña on the sixth floor. The main station is under two kilometres away.
Philippe Starck imagined the building as a yacht club. He kept the bare brick, the marble, the wooden floors and the old staircase, and put the iron lift in a glass case. Rooms have oars on the walls, sailing pictures and numbers drawn like racing sails. His daughter Ara made the stained glass in the lobby, which changes with the light.
- La Muña A restaurant on the sixth floor, built like the hull of a ship, cooking Peruvian and Japanese food. In summer the terrace looks over the city and the Alps.
- Lake views Most rooms face the lake, and many have a balcony or a terrace of their own.
- Eden Kitchen The ground-floor restaurant, with an open kitchen and windows on the lake.
