The hotel

Stone, larch and the 4 Vallées.

La Cordée des Alpes opened in 2012, a wooden chalet at 1,500 metres in the centre of Verbier and the heart of the 4 Vallées ski area. Its owner, Stratalp, hands the running to KV Hotels, and it belongs to Small Luxury Hotels of the World. A cordée is a roped party of climbers, and the name suits a town that lives for the mountain.

The rooms mix rustic and contemporary, in neutral tones with flashes of colour. Every one has a timber balcony facing the peaks. The apartments go further into stone and wood, with fireplaces and beamed ceilings, and the largest of the seventeen reach 300 square metres, enough for ten guests. In the spa, the pool is fourteen metres long and looks out over the valley.

  • The pool Fourteen metres of water at 28°C, inside the spa and facing down the valley, with sauna, hammam and jacuzzi beside it.
  • Sushi in winter Rōpu, a sushi bar, moves into the lounge for the ski season, alongside Restaurant La Cordée and its local dishes.
  • Shuttle to the lifts A hotel shuttle runs to the lifts from 8.30 am to 7 pm in winter, about five minutes away. On foot it takes around fifteen.
