The hotel
A cedar lodge on Lake Ungurys.
The resort sits on the wooded shore of Lake Ungurys, inside the Aukštadvaris Regional Park, about forty kilometres west of Vilnius. Its main lodge is built from centuries-old Canadian cedar logs. Eleven hectares of forest and lakeshore belong to the hotel, and the park around it holds deer, foxes and rare birds, with pike, perch and eel in the lake.
Esperanza first opened in the early 2010s. In June 2025 it reopened after three years of renovation, redesigned by Kirson Design of Riga, and joined Design Hotels. The interiors follow wabi-sabi: plain forms, earthy colours, natural materials. Every room looks onto either the lake or the trees through floor-to-ceiling glass. Local craftsmen and producers worked on the redesign, and Olea took over the old European restaurant on the second floor.
- Spa Esperanza A thousand square metres over two floors: eleven treatment rooms, two saunas, a hammam, a salt room, an indoor pool and a Pilates studio.
- Mizu Beach by Heji Japanese fusion by the water, with a robata grill and sashimi, now open all year.
- On the lake Lake swims, stand-up paddle boards, forest trails and three outdoor padel courts.
