The hotel

One family, since 1970.

Henry Burke, trained at the hotel school in Lausanne, opened The Atlantic in 1970 on the slope above St Ouen's Bay, with La Moye golf course on one side and the Les Mielles nature reserve below. His son Patrick came back to the business in 1985 and has run it since 1987. His first projects added garden studios, new suites and a health club to the original building.

Around 2000 the London architects Manser Associates and the designer Julian Reed remodelled the main building and the rooms in a cleaner style, after the marine architecture of the 1930s. The hotel belongs to Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Pride of Britain Hotels, and in 2025 the AA kept it at Four Red Stars with a score of ninety per cent.
