The hotel
A Munich address, rebuilt.
The site began as a classical town house built by the architect Gustav Vorherr early in the nineteenth century. It became the Hotel Bellevue in 1866 and took the name Der Königshof during the First World War. Karl and Anna Geisel bought it in 1938, and their family ran it for more than eighty years, rebuilding after the war and reopening in 1955. Its restaurant held a MICHELIN star.
In 2019 the old building came down. The Spanish practice Nieto Sobejano had won a competition launched by the city, and its nine storeys now rise around a central atrium facing the Karlstor. The hotel opened in June 2024 as the first Luxury Collection hotel in Germany. It has 106 rooms and suites, a restaurant on the top floor and works by Joseph Beuys, Christo and Jeanne-Claude and David John Flynn.
- An art collection Modern and contemporary works hang through the public rooms and corridors, Joseph Beuys and Christo and Jeanne-Claude among them.
- GRETA OTO The ninth-floor restaurant cooks Latin American and Amazonian dishes, with a bar and a terrace looking over the old town.
- A private spa A pool, sauna and experience shower booked for your party alone. Guests in the Panorama, Terrace and Presidential suites use it without a fee.
